In 1991 is zij vertrokken naar Nederland om haar geluk te beproeven. Nadat zij een aantal jaren in verschillende kapsalons had gewerkt, besloot zij om het risico te nemen om voor zichzelf te beginnen. Het bleek achteraf niet zo een groot risico te zijn, want binnen een korte periode had ze al een goede reputatie binnen de Kaapverdiaanse gemeenschap in Rotterdam. Gesitueerd in het centrum van de havenstad heeft zij inmiddels een multiculturele klantenkring opgebouwd.
